Hi there! Iām Edmund, a 3rd-year undergrad at UC San Diego studying electrical engineering and math-CS. I'm working to ensure that AI systems empower humanity :).
I'm highly fortunate to be mentored by Anjie Cheng as part of Xiaolong Wang's group! Here I've contributed to NVIDIA GEAR's embodied navigation agent, and I'm now leading a project on interactive robotics (supported in the summer by UCSD's IDEA Engineering Research Scholarship).
I founded and currently co-lead a student org at UCSD focused on AI alignment, where we get together for discussion sessions, host talks and workshops, and more. I'm so grateful to have met such a wonderful community through this work!
Supported by a summer fellowship at the UChicago Existential Risk Lab and mentored by Yossi Gandelsman, I researched the properties of fine-grained 'neuron-attention' computation paths in CLIP's vision encoder.
I spent my freshman year exploring lots of things, including competing in the University Rover Challenge and being a research assistant on empathetic LLM tutoring. Before that, I learned how to code at the SPIS program, and I'm proud of my final project there (my first-ever)!
In my free time I love taking photos, eating, and climbing plastic rocks! Recently, I am excitedly starting week one training as a member of UCSD's club powerlifting competitive team, have been trying my absolute hardest to etch these two songs into my soul, and am playing way too many board games with my housemates.
I'm happy that you've wandered onto this page - please don't hesitate to reach out through any medium and say hi! I'd love to chat :).
